Introduction I have always been a student of life and I have always wanted to know what is the 'Key to Happiness.' Perhaps it is this eternal quest that led me to the discovery of this most amazing system. When a friend handed me an old book about the cards and said, "Here, look up your card and see what it says about you," I was doubtful. How could any system based solely upon my birthday have anything relevant to say about me? I was an astrologer after all, and as many people know, an astrology chart requires the date, time, and place of our birth to be accurate. Still, I was interested and read a small section about my Birth Card. I was stunned a little after reading it. First of all, it was telling me things about myself that were true, but they were qualities that I hadn't accepted about myself. I felt the book was a little negative on my card, the Queen of Diamonds, but I had to admit that it was an accurate portrayal. Something inside told me that I had stumbled upon a gemstone of knowledge. My second sense about books and information has always been accurate and I knew then and there that this information came from a high and genuine source of spiritual truth. I immediately acquired a copy of that book, called Sacred Symbols of the Ancients, and began reading up on everyone I knew. My thirst for more information was growing each day. But as I searched and searched, I could find no other books about this mysterious card system. There were lots of books on reading playing cards, but none gave me the feeling this book did. After about a year, I finally gave up searching, resigning myself to the reality that there really were no other books on this subject. A couple of months later I made a big move to Los Angeles. Strangely enough, within two weeks of moving there a friend came over and noticed Sacred Symbols on my book shelf. "You have that book too?" she said. "Did you know there is a man in town who has written another book about the cards? His name is Arne Lein and he has been teaching classes about it." To make a long story short, I met Arne Lein, took classes from him, and received my initiation into this wonderful body of information. Over a year later, after Arne passed away, I dedicated myself to introducing this system to the world and began writing my first book about it. About six years ago I had a reading done by a prominent psychic in Los Angeles. Most of the reading was useless mumbo jumbo, but at one point in the reading the psychic stopped what he was talking about and said, "Your deceased aunt, Elizabeth, wants to tell you something and she won't leave me alone until I tell you this." I told him to go ahead and he said, "She was an author herself. She knows you are writing books and she wanted me to tell you that when you write your book, think about creating a book that would be the book you have been looking for your entire life. Think about what book would make you feel like you had found the most valuable treasure in the world. Then, go out and write that book." I took some notes and he went on with the rest of his reading. But that one message made a lasting impression on me. The feeling Aunt Elizabeth described is how I felt when I discovered Sacred Symbols. Honestly, there have been several other books that have made me feel that way and each one of them proved to be invaluable in my life, giving me priceless information that helped me to transform aspects of my life. I hope Love Cards has that impact for you. When I meet people today, I immediately ask them their birthday. Once I know their birthday, I usually know more about them than they know about themselves. I constantly study people and learn more and more about them through the use of this system. This knowledge gives a certain kind of power. I can make predictions about people that come true 90 percent of the time. Knowing a person's card tells what to expect from them and gives an idea of how we will relate with one another. It gives an understanding of life that brings great joy. It has also helped me to understand and accept myself. Much of the pain and suffering of my early life is gone, partly because I am no longer fighting with myself so much. I have come to accept myself in areas where I used to be in turmoil and conflict. And I believe this is one of the most priceless gifts this system has to offer. If you read this book and are able to understand and accept yourself a little more, then I have been successful. But the potential is here for much more than that. There are literally hundreds of uses for this information,all of which will help your life and the life of those you love. The truth is really a loving thing. It spreads light wherever it goes, releasing much of the tension we experience from misunderstandings and inner conflicts. Couldn't understand why the daughter that I loved so much could be such an adversary to me on a life-time basis. This book explained it. When I told her..we are MADE differently. You are not wrong. I am not wrong. We are MADE differently. That's okay. We are just different. Our task in life is different. God and YOUR task in this life needed you to be the way you already are. God and My task in life needed me to be the way I am. The way each of us is made and who we are, is important. God himself needed us to be who we are and the way we are, so we, each, for what we have to face in THIS life, are equipted to deal with what he needs us to deal with for our individual lives. We're both perfect for what He needs us to be for our individual lives. We Both Count. We are both perfect. We are just different. THAT'S GOOD. We don't see the world the same way. THAT"S GOOD! God needs us to be different. He needs BOTH types. The peace we each experienced with this outlook, healed our long-term relationship. Still healed. Loves is now allowed to exist between us.

Love this book, amazingly on point, give mine away all the time so I have to keep buying new ones.

I have had a good time with this book. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because it keeps referring you to other books to get the whole picture. I was surprised at how accurate it was, not in a woo-woo mysterious way but in a factual way. I wouldn't use it professionally but for my own amusement it is wonderful

Although I was skeptical when I began reading this book, I found it to be accurate and insightful.Based on the premise that every birth date is linked to one of the 52 playing cards, one's destiny and personality characteristics can be described. Variables such as one's ruling planet and other cosmic influences allow for the changes encountered throughout one's lifetime. By understanding the individual motivations and desires, and studying the individual's relationship to others, problems likely to surface in a relationship can be addressed or circumvented. Amazingly every person I applied this to fit their birth card and I was able to see the basis for their actions.Similar to realizing the differences described by Meyers-Briggs interpretations, Camp's astute descriptions aid us in achieving more harmonious relationships. This book would make a great wedding present for any young couple starting out or for older couples open to improving on many years of marriage. For those new to a relationship, a glimpse of future pitfalls might give them just cause to run while a perfect match might convince them to quit shopping.

This book has been a tremendous book if you are into astrology and really want to know the truth about your relationships, Take what it says with a grain of salt because while somethings and relationships are destined it may not be the right timing for you or the other person. Also, it tells you the energy created between two people but know that you have a choice how you choose to work that energy in a positive or negative direction. This is my favorite astrology book and it helps me deal with lots of people in my life and understand them better!

My daughter said to me this morning, "Mom, this is the best book I've ever read." So I tried it myself, and it was amazing. This book is about a boy that had a dad that played for the Tigers and was a pitcher, but his dad then retired, but his love for baseball didn't end. Every second he spent with his son, he though about baseball, and how he couldn't play anymore. So one day, the dad divorces the mom with a note, and leaves for Japan, where he is a baseball coach. Now, the boy found a job where he is batboy for the Detroit Tigers, and the book takes off from there. You should seriously consider reading this book. I can almost guarantee that you will love this book.

This is an amazing book about a 14 year old boy named Ryan who lives with a single mother. Ryan's favorite sport is baseball, he loves to play it and he loves to watch it. He got this passion from his dad, a star major league pitcher. But his dad abandoned their family, which was stupid because Ryan is a great kid. Ryan applied for a batboy job with his favorite team, the Tigers. In his mind this is the perfect summer job, and it sounds pretty awesome to me too. But it got even better for Ryan. The Tigers just hired his all time favorite player, Hank Bishop. But while trying to do acts of kindness for Hank, Ryan gets a look at how mean Hank can really be. All this is going on while Ryan is in the worst hitting slump of his life for his own select team. Finally with everything else happening, Ryan's idiot dad shows up and all he seems to do is make Ryan feel worse. But right when Ryan's world is about to collapse, things get better. It starts with Hank and Ryan's Mom developing a relationship, and then Hank starts being nicer to Ryan and helps him out of his slump. Can Hank hit his 500th homerun before it's too late? Can Ryan help his select team win the state championship? Read The Batboy to find out. This is probably one of my favorite books, and I really love how independent Ryan is and how they build Hank's character throughout the story.

Bf asked for this for his birthday. He didn’t read it until two months after the following birthday. But it was so good he immediately asked for the other books in the series. So good read I guess.

I love this book. We use it to teach 7th grade English. Now days we have lots of kids from divorced families. This is a good book with this topic and includes a sports theme as well

Mike Lupica's book Batboy focuses on baseball and family. Both Brian and his mom are working through Brian's father's abrupt departure for Japanese baseball and a divorce. Brian snags a dream job as the Detroit Tiger's batboy for the summer, and also is playing his regular school league team - more than enough to take his mind off these events. Then Brian's idol, Hank Bishop, gets re-signed to the Tigers team, slightly shy of his 500th home run. He is in career repair mode from a steroids use charge and a hinted at divorce. Out of the dark, Hank Bishop shows up, unasked for, but with freely given advice and suggestions that by the end of practice look to be connecting Brian's swing with the ball. Out in the parking lot, Hank meets Brian's Mom and gets invited to dinner. Brian notices for the first time in a long time, his Mom is interested in baseball or is it in Hank?In a nice move to fix Hank's slump, Lupica makes great use of all the DVDs and sports footage ever stared at by any baseball fan or player anywhere. Brian, in the midst of viewing Hank's old games spots a critical change in Hank's batting stance. Hank brushes off Brian's efforts to communicate, until Brian finally blurts out what he saw. Hank, man enough to recognize a fan can spot something useful, views the footage after dinner and stays to look at more games and more games and more games with his biggest fan.The rush toward the end of the season is given in fine detail and includes a visit from Brian's Dad. When his Dad focuses on baseball business matters and ignores being with his son, Brian comes to understand the difference between his Dad and Hank - one truly is focused only on the game. Hank, Brian's new friend and his Mom's new date, relates to both the game and the people who play it and knows why both are important. The book is a good guide to the videos we watch. We have rightnowmedia account through our church so we only need the training guide. If you are studying this with a group you should only need one book between everybody. You should check with your church if they have rightnowmedia. Some churches may not advertise it but have it. Overall, i like the study guide. There are real stories for redemption in between sessions which are very encouraging to look at.This book in particular covers the foundational basics of where men are in our culture and the history behind it. It also hints where we are headed as a culture (good or bad). I like the study because it's Christ centered and not a self-help book. Christ should be the foundation.

Volume two of the 33 series goes straight to the heart of things that stand in the way of men today. We just finished with volume one, A Man and His Design, in our mens group and are looking forward to starting volume two. To be truly effective this course should be used by a group of men and not individual use. The book is a workbook to be used in conjunction with the Authentic Manhood 33 videos. The book by itself would be pretty useless.There are 6 video +book volumes in this series with each volume divided into 6 sessions approximately 30 minutes long . I strongly urge all men who are in a small group to do this series. You won't regret it.

I'm leading a group of men at my church through the entire series.Volume 2 is very powerful.I recommend the 33 Series to all men who want to grow spiritually, relationally, and emotionally.

Book is OK as far as content. Nothing really heavy, deep. I would call it Christian pop psychology - lite, but it's still OK content. The book was fully written in so I was disappointed in the very good condition claim when I bought it. But even with the writing in it, it will serve my purpose well.

An amazing book telling the story of the meeting of two lines of thinking about similar problems in the context of very different cultural foundations. An amazing and highly illustrative account of how different cultures can cooperate and fully understand each other with great appreciation if that meeting is approached with a desire to find commonality and understanding. I think it should required reading for science teachers and perhaps all teachers.

The basic sicience was interesting. My most valuable take away was the writer's struggle with the cultural diferences, and the insights he developers . I plan on rereading this book.

This book is well written, and provides simple, elegant means to understand complex scientific principles. I only gave it four stars because I wanted more insight into the cultural differences between the author and the monks. (I only read half way through, so maybe the rest of the book did this to a greater extent.)

This is an especially good book for individuals with a career in teaching and education. It describes very well the teaching methods and experiences of the author as he traveled to India's border with Tibet and taught a three week class to buddhist monks. The author describes his day to day experiences, his interactions with his students, and observations of life around him during his trip. This book also contains complex cosmologic concepts that are explained in an way the average individual can understand. I bought the kindle version because I wanted to learn more about Buddhism, and I did. But the book contains much more information about astronomy, science, physics, the nature of time.

This is a book that combines scientific information with a dive into Tibetan Buddhist culture. If there is a flaw in this book, it is that the book is too short!Wonderful and thought provoking. I enjoyed it all.

While I applaud Mr. Impey's enthusiasm and creative teaching methods, I was hoping for more about the culture and lives of the monks. Instead most of it seems to be about astronomical concepts and the methods he used to convey them in the classroom. I'm a teacher, writer and an astronomy buff--but I already knew most of the material the author explains in such detail. For me the book was a bit tedious.Moreover Mr. Impey relied on a translator to explain some fairly sophisticated concepts (relativity, quantum mechanics, the expansion of the universe). It's quite difficult to explain these subtle ideas to educated English-speaking westerners, and I can't help but wonder how much these monks really understood about these and other topics. I suspect not much. It was a worthy effort on his part, but something was lacking for me in this book. I guess I wanted to know more about the individual monks, their spiritual practices, and the Tibetan community as a whole. He has some material about this, but not nearly enough.By the way, one quarter of the book (kindle version) consists of the index. Take that into account when estimating the page count.

This book pretty much delivers everything one would expect from its title and synopsis. The sheer enthusiasm Impey has for his subject is only matched by the monk's uninhibited desire to learn everything they can. The situation exacts every kind of on-the-spot inventiveness by Chris Impey to convey his subject 'The Cosmos' to the cloistered lives of the monks. They in turn by their presence (both of body and mind) open Impey to a world beyond the simple materialism he works in. It's a wonderful book, to read slowly and enjoy - as well as learn from.

An interesting combination of description of a different culture, great imagination in how to teach to this culture and author's ruminations on Buddhism.
